Ayurveda recognises that no two people are the same. Your unique combination of three energies — Vata, Pitta, and Kapha — determines how your body digests, how your mind processes stress, and what kind of movement and food best support your wellbeing.
Vata: Air and Space
Vata types tend to be creative, quick-thinking, and energetic — but when out of balance, they become anxious, scattered, and prone to digestive issues. Grounding practices, warm cooked foods, and consistent routines balance Vata energy.
Pitta: Fire and Water
Pittas are focused, driven, and sharp — natural leaders who can tip into irritability or inflammation when overheated. Cooling foods, non-competitive exercise, and time in nature help Pitta stay in balance.
Kapha: Earth and Water
Kapha types are calm, nurturing, and steady — but can struggle with lethargy and weight gain. Stimulating movement, light foods, and variety in routine are Kapha's medicine.
Finding Your Combination
Most people are a combination of two doshas, with one dominant. A qualified Ayurvedic practitioner or a detailed assessment can identify your prakriti (natural constitution) and vikriti (current imbalance). From there, personalised food, lifestyle, and movement recommendations follow naturally.
